Człowieczeństwo, czyli symbolizowanie

Abstract

The article develops the idea that symbolizing constitutes and expound the very essence of man. According to the presented anthropological and metaphysical understanding of the symbol, symbolizing is the participation of the subject in the transcending sphere, which determines the meaningfulness of his actions. If his activity and his being are to be meaningful, they should in fact be a self-conscious symbolization. Man turns out to be a symbol in his essence, his being consists in symbolizing, and the symbol par excellence turns out to be a human being. It would be more appropriate to say that man is symbolizing as such. So it is not about a certain aspect or about the general purpose of its activity, but about itself and the man himself.
