Was, in 17th and 18th Century England, a Woman Treated as a Precious Individual – a Citizen?

Abstract

In the presented paper I mainly focus on the opinions of two women thinkers: Mary Astell (1666–1731) and Mary Wollstonecraft (1759–1797), whose names became famous thanks to modern researches and studies continued since the second half of the 20th century. I intend to reveal creativity in their way of thinking against the background of philosophical views as well as social and cultural situation in the 17th and 18th century England. I also aspire to elucidate the originality of their ideas and their practical applications.
