Medieval Theory of Consequences

Abstract

This article presents the medieval theory of consequences. Its subject was the analysis of the relation of entailment between sentences. In modern language, the theory of consequences searched to provide criteria for valid inferences. This article discusses the definition of consequence, the most important divisions of consequences, and the main rules of consequence accepted by medieval logicians.
