Postconstructivism or Let’s Change the Subject of Conversation. A Reply to Michał Rydlewski
Abstract
This paper is a polemic with the theses of Michał Rydlewski presented in the article The cultural dimension of postconstructivism in the perspective of Anna Pałubicka’s ‘Grammar of European culture’. Its purpose is to clarify misunderstandings and to present Bruno Latour's philosophical project, which came to be called postconstructivsm. The theses of the latter are discussed in the context of the critique of social/cultural constructivism, of which Rydlewski is an advocate. The author focuses on the general cognitive purpose of postconstructivsm, the principles of relational ontology, as well as on the importance of Latour’s philosophy for thinking about culture.
