Philosophy and Politics. An Interpretation of Plato’s Cave

Plato’s Cave is a metaphor for the relationship between philosophy and politics. According to Plato, philosophy is always endangered by political power, because it criticizes current political issues from the perspective of eternal truth. Political persecution was not specific of Ancient Greece only, but it occurs in various disguises in any political system at any time whatsoever.
